Ingredients Required To Make Chyawanprash

- 2 cups of Gooseberry/amla almost 10 gooseberries medium sized
- Half a cup of jaggery
- 1 spoon of honey
- 3-4 tbsp Ghee
- 5 cardamom (Green Elaichi) powder
- 1 tsp peppercorn powder
- 1-inch cinnamon (Dalchini) powder
- 1 tbsp powdered cumin seed
- Pinch of saffron(soaked in 1tbsp water)
- 2 tbsp powdered fennel Seeds
- 5-6 tulsi leaves paste
- 10 leaf of curry Leaves/ meetha neem paste
- 1 tbsp powdered saunth
- Half a cup raisins- boiled and made into a thick paste
- 1 tbsp Powdered Mulethi
- 1 tbsp Shatavari powder (Asparagus racemosus)
- Half a tbsp clove
Method
Although making chyawanprash at home is a time consuming process and slightly difficult, the health benefits that chyawanprash provides are numerous and worth the effort. You can easily make chyawanprash at home by following this method.
- In a glass dish, combine all of the powders and put aside.
- After washing the amla, pat it dry entirely.
- Prick them with a fork and pressure cook them for 2 whistles in water.
- Remove the seed and make a smooth paste with it, then set it aside.
- Add clarified butter, oil, and sugar to a heavy-bottomed pan.
- Cook on a low heat until all the liquid in the mixture has evaporated, then add the Indian gooseberry paste.
- Mix in the granules that have been blended together.
- Remove the pan from the heat and set it aside to cool fully.
- To get a homogenous mixture, add the honey and blend well.
- Fill a glass container with the prepared mixture and store it for later use.
- Consume it as and when you want.
Another method that can be used to make chyawanprash is :
- Prepare the gooseberries by boiling them, mashing them, and setting them aside.
- Melt the ghee and add the mashed gooseberries, roasting until the gooseberries are brown and the oil has evaporated.
- Mix in the ground/ grated jaggery, honey, and cooked raisins well.
- Mix in the tulsi and neem paste well.
- Put the cover on the pan and keep the heat low for 2 minutes.
- Add all of the ground spices and continue to stir on medium heat. Mix in the saffron water one more. Make sure the consistency is just right; it shouldn't be too thick or thin.
- Remove it from the heat and let it cool.
The best thing about chyawanprash is that it can be stored in the refrigerator for weeks. However, since we are not using preservatives as in packaged Chyawanprash, you should prepare it in smaller batches to ensure that it is consumed quickly.
